Apple Crisp Sangria

It's Fall, people! Well, it's technically fall but in Florida it's still feeling like summer. I don't care either way because October means fall and I'm not paying attention to the heat.. Bring on the cider, sweaters and everything pumpkin!

We had people over last weekend to watch football so naturally, I wanted to make football finger food! I'll post something separate on the foods because this one is allllll about the booze:

Here is the link with the full recipe and it'll take you step by step :) but basically you just put the liquids together and then put the fruit/ginger/cinnamon sticks in and refrigerate overnight.

What you'll need:

1/4 cup Agave or Honey
2 Cups Peach Schnapps
2 Oranges
1 lemon
1 lime
2 apples
2 cinnamon sticks
2 slices of fresh ginger
1 bottle Club Soda
Cinnamon
Ice
Sugar
Bottle of Chardonnay

It calls for two cups of peach schnapps. I would start with just one cup and taste it and see if you needed more. Mine was very peachy so keep that in mind when you're making it.

Fresh ginger.. YUM

I let the fruit steep over night and then drained the fruit out in the morning. I added an extra apple and orange the day I was serving it.. that way, the fruit is fresh and yummy to eat.

Wet the rim with some fruit, put some cinnamon sugar on the rim and put a cinnamon stick in it and, voila! :)

Back to Reality

What a weekend! Jam packed with Alabama football festivities, eating, drinking, traveling and a little bit of relaxing... oh yeah, and shopping :) If you read the blog post prior to this one, I mentioned all the plans I had for Gregg's birthday [all of them mainly revolving around food] and all of it worked out wonderfully! Dad made game day chili [amazing... still waiting on the recipe, dad] ... I made lemon squares [almost screwed them up by forgetting the eggs.. oops] ... and I made chicken tortilla soup in a crock pot [details at the bottom]

The Million Dollar Marching Band!

Birthday Stud! We dressed like Alabamians from top to bottom. We totally fit in.

I know it sounds silly to be so enamored with Crock Pots but I am. I've never owned one and didn't really know what all they could do but O.M.G

I made chicken tortilla soup yesterday and I literally put in chicken, broth, tomatoes, onion, a little garlic, chilies, corn, beans and some spices and BAM... amazing soup was ready in a few short hours. I am all about easy yet impressive dishes since I'm not the best cook. Crock Pot, I'll be purchasing you soon :) In the meantime, I'm going to drool over these easy recipes. Enjoy!

Roll Tide Roll, Baby!

I know you just read about my lavish vacation but it's time for another. Gregg is turning the big 25 soon so we're celebrating big this weekend!

My amazing dad got Gregg and I tickets to the Bama Vandy game this weekend!

We're going to our family's lake house to celebrate and go to the game!

It's Gregg's birthday so I'm sending a list to my dad to make sure all of Gregg's favorites are at the house.

Gotta get his favorite beer...
... and it's festive!

My dad is going to laugh when he gets my list but I'm going to need all the ingredients for lemon squares please.

And last but not least, I'm thinking about making a yummy game day chili!

Now, I'll have to report back and let you know if any of this happens or if we just drink lots of beer and bourbon and end up at McDonald's ;)
