The Last Supper

Last night was my last official night in Hattiesburg! I have a new job and will no longer be the travel broad. Although, I'm sure I'll still travel quite a bit.. and probably to better places than Hattiesburg [sorry, Hburg!]

A to Z Pinot Gris. Love me some Portland wines!

Back at Cork, even though the service is terrible and they never have the right food.

I want this serveware!!! That's mainly why I took the picture.. it was mediocre salsa and hummus but I want that serveware for all the awesome parties I'm going to throw. Boom.

I've met some amazing people and visited some of the coolest places. I'm so thankful and lucky and I've learned so much from this experience. Most of my knowledge applies to airport ettiquette and that's something I'll need forever. So, don't go in front of me during the security screening. I will most likely be fully undressed behind you and tapping my foot because you're taking too long.

Adios Hattiesburg & ACC - it's been real!

Photo Challenge Day 8: Sun!

Today, I was challenged to take a picture of the sun! It's a beautiful day here in Hattiesburg, MS so I still feel a little blind from taking this pic...

I feel like I've completely missed winter by being in MS & FL and I am not complaining :)

Here's another shot I found last night... a shout out to ole Ali "T-bone" Tracy!

T, if you ever open a cafe/record store, just buy this franchise.

Photo Challenge Day 3: Hands!

Photo Challenge Day 3: Hands

Here's my hand [and my disgusting, unpainted nails] reaching for another piece of edamame. But it's gone. Sad day.

And here's my dinner from last night.. Monkey Roll!

Here's another roll... Mango Tuna. It was like dessert! Yumm-o :)

Gimme a Gyro

I don't have much to say, except I'm going to eat a gyro tonight and I am super jazzed. This is what I had last time and I'm getting it again. Old Athens Grill, you are amazing.

YUM :)

Cajun Creole Cuisine

Let me tell you one thing Hattiesburg has not been good for... my waistline. I have eaten some amazing food here! If you ever end up in this strange city, you have to venture downtown. Even though the entire town was eerily deserted, we still had some fantastic food.

Brownstone's is a creole cajun restaurant [as many restaurants are in this area] but Brownstone's was absolutely incredible. We started with something that sounds scary but was so delish...

Fried Alligator! Suck it gator!!!

Not the best picture but omgaaah this might be in my top 5 of best meals ever. Filet with asparagus and loaded mashed potatoes. I die.

My coworker Kyle ordered Buttermilk Pie and it looked amazing [he doesn't let people eat his food so I can't say from personal experience. ALSO, he eats everything seperately, so he ate the pie first and then the ice cream... FREAK!]

Creme Brule anyone?? :)

Best BBQ in Hattiesburg... possibly the world

During my first trip to Hattiesburg, I was introduced to some of the most amazing barbeque I've ever had. And I've had some pretty good BBQ in my day, okay? I'm from Lexington, NC... BBQ capital of the world.. ya ever heard of it?? It's amazing. But I have to be a traitor and say that Leatha's Bar-b-que Inn might be the best in the land.

This is the sign when you pull in.

Might not look as good as it was but ohhmaahhgaaah.. so amazing. And that sauce was incredible.

Potato Salad. Amazing.

Pecan pie that I didn't order but was given... and then charged for?

This is on the front of the menu - sweet Leatha!

Featured in the Best of Mississippi... these were framed all over the place. I think it's safe to say they win something every year.

I only took a few pictures of the articles that I saw but I had to snap a pic of the article in Southern Living.. how cool!

Welp, who's hungry now? Don't go here unless you're PREPARED to be in a food induced coma for the rest of the day :)

Cork Wine & Martini Bar

After weeks of traveling and little exploring, I finally decided to get out and explore this little town! I'm in Hattiesburg, MS this week and I believe I stumbled upon a little gem here. It's called Cork Wine & Martini bar and it is my new spot, people. There are cute little couches, big tables and an awesome bar. What more do you need??

Here is a link to their menu... but they were out of almost everything. So I ended up eating this bad boy....

Yep, I ate something called Crawfish Pie. It was actually amazing! It was like New Orleans style comfort food.

Oooh I'm so hipster and artsy. I thought the wine/martini glasses hanging were pretty cool.

I spent a lot of time in Portland, OR so I'm partial to the wines that come from Willamette Valley. And let me tell you, the King Estate Pinot Gris was unbelievable. I've kind of been off white wines lately... I'm a red lady. But not last night... I'm buying a case of this for my family for Christmas.

Safe travels this week! I'm so excited to see my family and just relax for a bit. I miss ole Greggy but he'll be back in less than a month!!! That's enough of a reason to celebrate!
